In 2013, an exchange programme was established between the School of Archaeology (University of Oxford) and the School of Archaeology and Museology (Peking University). Its aim was to provide opportunites for students and staff in both Universities to benefit from closer interaction and greater exposure to archaeological work being carried out in China and Europe respectively. This programme, initiated by Prof. Dame Jessica Rawson, has been extremely successful.
Professors Xu Tianjin, Wu Xiaohong and Li Shuicheng have each taught for one month in Oxford, while Professors John Baines and Mark Pollard have, in return, given lectures in Beijing and other universities in China. All of the visitors have also delivered public lectures in the OCAAAC Lecture series. This programme has been partially funded by the generosity of Ian Taylor and the Au-Reyes Fund.
In Hilary Term 2017, we look forward to welcoming Professor Zhang Chi to Oxford as part of this programme.
A series of travelling conferences have been organised by members of the Centre as part of the ongoing academic exchange between Peking University and the University of Oxford and the Leverhulme Trust funded project
